Jacksonville, FL (October 24, 2017) September’s Hurricane Irma caused serious wind and flood damage to many Duval County homes. Insurance covers much of the cost, but hurricane deductibles are expensive and leave homeowners scrambling for cash.

On October 24, 2017 the Jacksonville City Council unanimously passed bill 2017-695, sponsored by Council Member Garrett Dennis and Co-Sponsored by Council Member Becton. The bill refunds to property owners certain city-related building inspection division fees in connection with permit applications made from September 11, 2017 through December 31, 2017 for re-roofing (non-structural roofing material repairs) and certain electrical service repairs on existing structures damaged by Hurricane Irma.

To learn if your repairs qualify for the fee waiver or refund, call the Building Inspection Division at 630-1100.
