Jacksonville, FL (August 12, 2020) – District 11 Residents, We need YOUR help! You play a critical role in our government, city and nation-wide. Residents of Jacksonville can help with the determination of how our city is funded by the Federal Government over the next ten years which affects how our community plans for the future by participating in the 2020 Census.

The government website for the 2020 Census is reporting that barely 50% of District 11 residents have responded to the 2020 Census. The Census Tracts of major concern are for zip codes 32224 and 32246 which have low response rates of 47.40% along with zip code 32256 at just 51.30%.

This small act of participating in the Census, benefits your city in multiple ways that you may not realize. According to the 2020 Census Government Handout (see attached file), when you fill out the census, you help: 1) Determine how many seats in Congress, your state receives, 2) It helps determine on how more than $675 billion in federal funding is distributed to states and communities each year, and 3) It creates jobs and provides housing, helps prepare for emergencies, and to build schools, roads and hospitals.

These are huge factors to consider for a thriving city like Jacksonville, but are easily overlooked if residents are unaware or dismiss its benefits by not responding. The 2020 Census will ask only simple questions such as; name, gender, race, age, date of birth, and relationship status in addition to, the number of people in a household, and whether you are a property owner or renter.

To Help our City and the Future of your community, Please Respond to the 2020 Census Today!
