Jacksonville, FL (March 11, 2020) — A recent field trip within District 11 had Councilman Becton visiting a new community of townhomes named East Village located on R G Skinner Parkway across from Atlantic Coast High School. New Home Sales Representative Kent Wilkinson with Dream Finders Homes was on hand to provide a personal tour and showcase how the town homes being built today have evolved to be luxury residential options.
“District 11 continues to grow and see a great deal of construction through-out,” Councilman Becton stated. “Most of what you will see in driving through the district are new neighborhoods, homes on lot sizes ranging from 40ft to 60ft, townhomes and apartments. All of these options are for new home buyers that typically do not want big yards and lots of upkeep as previous traditional neighborhoods provide.”
The Amenities of these new developments often include open common areas managed by owner associations with clubhouses and in many apartment communities they have entertainment areas with games rooms for foosball, billiards, and big TVs, in addition to gyms and fitness rooms. The pool areas are more like resorts that you would vacation too, and often times come with summer kitchens with outdoor grills and adjoining firepits. The lifestyle of these new neighborhoods for the future are not what had been built in the past.
“The construction of these new developments is quite impressive whereby designers are creating high standards of living in smaller footprint environments,” Councilman Becton commented. “Amenities are plentiful so that residents can enjoy the social interaction with other residents and to have the amenities that can be shared across all residents.” CM Becton acknowledged.
Also, as part of the development of East Village and eTown to the South, R.G. Skinner Parkway received a widening of the roadway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes through Atlantic Coast High School. The entry gate that previously closed off that part of the road was removed and now this parkway is a continuous road that travels South thru eTown ending at the interchange of eTown and I-295.
