Jacksonville, FL (June 8, 2019) — Each year, the City of Jacksonville, Public Works Department schedules various Hazardous Waste Remote Site disposal events around the city.
One of the upcoming collection events is taking place in District 11:

This event is to serve the needs of our Jacksonville communities and to help our environment, by providing a convenient access to disposing of those materials around the house that you really would like to get rid but do not know where to take them.
Please look at cleaning out your garage, your utility room or your landscape shed and bring those dried up or empty paint cans, those containers filled with used oil, or any number of hazardous waste materials that you have always wanted to throw away.
The Hazardous Waste Remote Site Disposal Event is just a short drive away, convenient to your location, so no more excuses, “Come on Down” and get rid of that hazardous waste stuff around the house!
Types of waste which may be brought include:
- Televisions*
- Computer monitors*
- Computer terminals
- CPUs
- Keyboards
- Printers
- Scanners
- Stereo equipment
- Radios
- VCRs
- DVDs
- Camcorders
- Desk and mobile phones
- Pagers
- Power tools
- Small kitchen appliances (i.e. microwaves, toaster ovens)
- Health and beauty appliances
*There is a limit of three Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) and televisions per customer. Some items may be returned to the retailer for recycling (ex. E-waste, motor oil, automotive batteries, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent and CFL bulbs) check with the retailer.
Directional signage will be posted on the day of the event.
Types of waste which may be brought to one of the mobile events or to the HHW Facility include:
- Paint, Paint thinners and paint strippers
- Rechargeable batteries
- Photographic chemicals
- Thermometers and thermostats
- Drain cleaners
- Pool chemicals
- Fluorescent bulbs and tubes, including CFL light bulbs
- 20-pound propane cylinders
Disposing paint/motor oil limits are 27 gallons of paint and/or 27 gallons of motor oil in a 30 day period per Duval County Resident.
Please note that Household hazardous waste cannot be collected curbside with regular trash. Residents may bring these items to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 2675 Commonwealth Ave weekly (Tuesday thru Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday & Monday Closed).
