Jacksonville, FL (March 16, 2018) The City of Jacksonville’s Parks & Recreation department hosted its second annual  movie night at the 9A Baymeadows Regional Park on Friday, March 16, 2018 beginning at Sunset. CM Becton was in attendance to welcome everyone to the event along with Parks and Recreation, Director Daryl Joseph and his staff.

It was a picture perfect evening as the weather cooperated quite nicely as a beautiful sunset was combined with an afternoon breeze making it a picture perfect outdoor evening for all. The event was attended by 300 – 400 children and their parents from all around Jacksonville to watch Disney’s newest movie Nut Job 2. Everyone set up camp in front of a huge blow-up screen, while free popcorn was served and ice-cream and concessions were available as well.

CM Becton talked with many in the crowd where he quickly found that many of those attending were from all parts of the city not just locals. Some residents traveling from the Northside, Arlington and the Beaches for example, explained that this was not their first park movie with the family and that they followed the Parks & Recreation’s Facebook account to keep up with these events. They expressed that this and other movie events by the city were well received and they were very excited by the venue at the 9A Regional Park. Park’s Director, Joseph certainly was pleased by the attendance and enthusiasm of the movie goers and indicated that another movie night is being scheduled during the summer months. CM Becton expressed that with the success of this event at 9A Regional Park, future movie events would definitely come back here in the future.
