Fake Rideshare Drivers Busted in Miami Beach Crime Spree: Duo Charged with Robbery, Kidnapping, and More

Miami Beach detectives have apprehended two individuals accused of committing multiple robberies by impersonating rideshare drivers in the city’s Entertainment District.

Fevry Gentillon, 43, and Kebert Jean, 56, faced a series of charges following their arrest on Thursday. These charges include armed robbery with a firearm, strong-arm robbery, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, organized scheme to defraud, identity theft, unlawful possession of a credit or debit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, and grand theft in the third degree.

Police reports indicate that Gentillon and Jean specifically targeted individuals who were under the influence.

According to a news release from the police department, the suspects posed as rideshare drivers and targeted unsuspecting victims, committing multiple robberies. In some instances, they even used a firearm to carry out their crimes.

The MBPD’s Robbery Unit thoroughly investigated the robberies and successfully identified Gentillon and Jean as the individuals responsible, according to the police.

“We take incidents like this very seriously and are fully committed to holding those responsible accountable,” stated Police Chief Wayne Jones. “Our main priority is to ensure the safety of Miami Beach.”
