John Morgan, attorney, shares concerns about the misappropriation of taxpayer funds in relation to Amendment 3

As voters cast their ballots to decide whether to support or oppose Amendment 3, attorney John Morgan is targeting the state of Florida in his push to legalize marijuana.

State senators Joe Gruters and Jason Pizzo, as well as attorney John Morgan, held a virtual news conference on Friday morning to discuss the state campaign against the November ballot initiative.

“I think they might be trying to protect the youth because legalized marijuana means a broader playing field,” Terrell Thomas remarked.

“The ads that are talking about the smell of it and everything are just ridiculous that they’re just trying to pinpoint something that isn’t true,” Molly Boden said.

On Friday, NBC2 conducted interviews with these voters. While they disagree on Amendment 3, they both think that the use of taxpayer funds for political advertisements is problematic. Instead of truly understanding what’s going on, people are just listening to them, and marijuana isn’t the issue,” Boden stated.

Thus far, Florida has broadcast almost 13,000 political television commercials, 5,000 radio commercials, and digital and billboard advertisements. According to lawyer John Morgan, taxpayers ought to be incensed.

“This is about money; this is not about you because if it was about you, then the government would not be trying to give us false information about, you know, children being injured by gummies,” Morgan stated.

If Amendment 3 is approved, it will save lives, according to state senator Jason Pizzo (D-Sunny Isles Beach).

“Instead of something being laced with fentanyl the corner that they buy at 2:00 in the morning, something that’s vacuum sealed, quality controlled, and lab tested, this is going to save people’s lives,” stated Pizzo.

“The thing I hope from all this that comes from all this is that you, the Florida taxpayers, are so outraged by this theft of tax dollars that you say, By God, I’m going to go out, and I’m going to vote,” he said.

Amendment 3 will legalize marijuana for recreational use by anybody aged 21 and up if it receives a 60% vote.
