Jacksonville, FL (August 1, 2018) — A scheduled Crime Prevention Walk in the Nocatee community of Cypress Trails hosted by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Councilman Becton turns into a community meeting due to bad weather.
The event was held on August 1st, exactly one week after JSO and Councilman Becton walked the Bartram Park Preserve community.
The Councilman, JSO’s Zone 3 Commander Assistant Chief Jennifer Short, and Lt. Worbington and his officers, met at The Community Center off Cypress Trails Drive along with nearly 30 residents.
The walk was initially planned to begin at 6:30p.m., but due to bad weather, JSO and Councilman Becton redirected their efforts and held a community meeting inside The Community Center instead.
Despite the change of plans, the meeting was a big hit among the many residents in attendance as everyone was allowed to voice their thoughts and concerns regarding their neighborhood which resulted in plenty of interaction with the officials in attendance.
The meeting lasted a little over an hour as topics discussed included:
JSO response to the Nocatee area for immediate calls for service.
Regular patrolling and presence within the area.
Neighborhood traffic signage needing to be installed.
