Jacksonville, FL (August 30, 2017) — District 11 Council Member Danny Becton joined Governor Rick Scott and other State and Local officials in marking a major milestone to the I-95 / JTB Interchange Project with a ribbon cutting to open the flyover. The flyover represents the first section of the $78 million project being constructed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The new flyover is part of a transportation project that also includes the reconstruction and widening of the I-95/Butler Blvd. (JTB) interchange ramps, plus the addition of a westbound overpass to eliminate merging conflicts and congestion issues at Belfort Road. In addition, the reconstructed I-95 northbound off-ramp provides direct access to westbound Butler Blvd. from I-95 north allowing drivers to head over to Philips Hwy without making the old east bound U-turn at Belfort. “The new flyover is a game changer for the I-95 and JTB traveler”, commented CM Becton. “No more will drivers be required to navigate traffic lights to make that transition. This flyover will eliminate those major backups onto I-95 south that was an everyday issue.”

The entire project is expected to be completed in several months.
