In Kendall, Florida, authorities took a man into custody on Sunday following the discovery of a woman with a gunshot wound inside a residence.
Miami-Dade police responded to a home in the 6200 block of Southwest 109th Avenue after 3:30 a.m. following a report of a “suspicious incident.”
Authorities said that when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered an open door to the residence and a woman who had been shot at least once.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also arrived at the scene and promptly transported the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. The victim’s condition was stable during transportation.
Miami-Dade police have reported that the Hialeah Police Department received a 911 call from a man shortly after the incident, stating that he was involved in a shooting in Kendall.
The man involved in Sunday morning’s shooting was apprehended by Hialeah police, according to authorities.
The suspect has been transferred to the custody of the Miami-Dade police, as confirmed by the authorities.
The authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of both the perpetrator and the victim.
“The investigation has been taken over by the MDPD’s Special Victim’s Unit and Domestic Violence detectives,” said a spokesperson from the MDPD in an email to Local 10 News. “Currently, we do not have any information regarding their identities, familial ties, or any additional details.”
