Man in Ridgecrest arrested following alleged assault on ex-girlfriend and standoff with authorities

A 41-year-old Ridgecrest man, identified as Alexander Aguilar, was arrested on Wednesday following an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, according to Ridgecrest police. The incident occurred on October 23, when officers responded to a disturbance call at the 1500 block of North Norma Street. The victim reported that Aguilar had entered her house, pushed her to the ground, and proceeded to steal her purse and other belongings.

The officers have confirmed that there is a criminal protective order in place for the woman, which prohibits Aguilar from making any contact with her.

Aguilar left the home in a white Toyota Tacoma after the incident. Initially, officers were unable to locate him. However, they were able to track him down using a FLOCK automated license plate reader search. Eventually, officers found Aguilar driving towards his home on South Broadway Street in the 200 block.

When officers reached Aguilar’s residence, they attempted to engage in conversation with him; however, he declined to cooperate. Consequently, the police procured both search and arrest warrants, with the assistance of an Emergency Rescue Vehicle.

According to the police, Aguilar refused to cooperate with officers for more than an hour despite their attempts at negotiation. Eventually, the officers resorted to using the ram on the rescue vehicle to break through the front door. Following this, Aguilar, who was wearing body armor, surrendered and was arrested without any further incident.

During the search of Aguilar’s home, officers discovered the following items:

    • Several pounds of marijuana
    • Several ponds of cocaine
    • Suspected fentanyl
    • Several firearms, including a high-powered rifle
    • A large amount of cash

According to officers, it appears that Aguilar was potentially engaged in the distribution of illegal drugs. As part of the investigation, authorities confiscated various narcotics, weapons, and a significant amount of cash, all of which will serve as crucial evidence in the case.

Aguilar, who was taken into custody, is now confronting multiple charges. These charges encompass possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and the act of robbery.
