According to the police, a shooting occurred at a Halloween party at a home in AkronĀ , which resulted in the tragic death of an 18-year-old woman and the hospitalization of two other teenagers. The event took a devastating turn with this senseless act of violence.
The Akron Police Department reported that they responded to a residence on Paris Avenue at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, they discovered an 18-year-old woman who had sustained a gunshot wound and was in critical condition. Additionally, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were found nearby, both with injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening.
According to the police, the victims, aged 16 and 17, fled the party in an attempt to escape after being shot.
The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the younger victims are expected to make a full recovery, according to the police.
The victim has been identified as Lashae Ellis, an 18-year-old resident of Akron, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Following a “short pursuit on foot” at the scene, the police detained an 18-year-old man. While attempting to evade the officers, the man discarded a handgun, which was subsequently recovered by the authorities. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business and has been taken into custody at Summit County Jail.
