Sarah Boone is currently on trial for the alleged murder of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, Jr. The incident occurred in February 2020, and Torres was 42 years old at the time of his death. Boone is accused of zipping him into a suitcase, which ultimately led to his demise.
During a court appearance on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Boone took the stand and reminisced about the time she and Torres played a game of hide-and-seek, more than four years after his death.
During the game, Boone found herself in a nerve-wracking situation. She hurriedly sought refuge in an upstairs restroom, specifically opting for the safety of the shower. There she patiently waited for a considerable amount of time, hoping for the tension to subside. Eventually, she made the conscious decision to bring the evening to a close, as she was eager to retire for the night.
As she made her way downstairs, she caught sight of Torres in the act of “settling himself into a suitcase.” In her own words, she described how he was attempting to flatten himself so that she wouldn’t notice he was inside.
“I zipped him up,” Boone chuckled as he recalled the incident. “We found it amusing and started joking about how he was small enough to fit inside the suitcase. We couldn’t help but laugh as we marveled at the fact that he could actually fit in there. I even playfully moved the suitcase around with him still inside. It was unbelievable to both of us that he could fit in such a small space.”
According to her, Torres had already placed the top of the suitcase on himself, and she playfully zipped him up, which they both found amusing.
She mentioned, “I moved the suitcase around a few times on the wheels, and we were joking and laughing about it. It was quite amusing.”
According to Boone’s testimony, she was intoxicated during the incident. She stated that the situation escalated rapidly as Torres allegedly threatened her and physically pushed on the suitcase.
According to Law & Crime, Boone claimed she felt “safe” enough to return the suitcase and left enough room for him to get out. She then went to sleep and discovered him dead in the briefcase the following day.
Boone, the individual accused of second-degree murder in the incident, has entered a plea of not guilty, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
