A Florida family’s online gaming experience was turned sour when a 10-year-old child allegedly received obscene instructions from an unknown individual on Roblox. According to authorities, the child was coerced into dumping a two-month-old infant onto the kitchen floor, resulting in the infant’s severe injuries.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office initiated their investigation on October 17 following notification from Gulf Coast Kid’s House, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to child abuse victims in Pensacola. The organization reported the incident involving the injured infant, which resulted in a more thorough investigation that revealed distressing information.
The youngster had been communicating with 36-year-old Tara Alexis Sykes through Roblox, as investigators discovered. Sykes allegedly provided the child with instructions on a variety of methods to murder the infant in messages that were disclosed by the sheriff’s office. These included drowning the infant in a bathtub.
- Scalding the infant with boiling water.
- Ending the baby’s life by dropping it onto the floor.
The investigation also revealed Sykes’ directives for the child to inflict injury on the adults in the household. The sheriff’s office alleges that she instructed the youngster to: Cut the throats of the adults while they were sleeping.
Set the home on fire by saturating bed sheets with aerosol spray and igniting them.
Although the 10-year-old adhered to a portion of the instructions by soaking the linens, he failed to execute the remaining components of the strategy.
Chip W. Simmons, the Sheriff of Escambia County, was taken aback by the specifics of the investigation.
Simmons stated in a statement, “I have been involved in law enforcement for more than 40 years and have never encountered anything quite like this.” “I am deeply troubled by the circumstances and the notion that anyone could entertain such thoughts, let alone authorize the execution of these actions.” There is a significant issue with her.
Sykes is currently facing charges of attempted homicide for his involvement in aggravated child abuse. The investigation is still ongoing, and the authorities have indicated that they may file additional charges as additional information is revealed.
