One teenager killed and two injured in shooting at Akron Halloween party

After a foot pursuit, the police were able to stop an 18-year-old man, though it is still unknown if he was involved in the fatal shooting incident.

According to the police, a shooting occurred at a Halloween party at a home in Akron , which resulted in the tragic death of an 18-year-old woman and the hospitalization of two other teenagers. The event took a devastating turn with this senseless act of violence.

The Akron Police Department reported that they responded to a residence on Paris Avenue at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, they discovered an 18-year-old woman who had sustained a gunshot wound and was in critical condition. Additionally, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were found nearby, both with injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening.

According to the police, the victims, aged 16 and 17, fled the party in an attempt to escape after being shot.

The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the younger victims are expected to make a full recovery, according to the police.

The victim has been identified as Lashae Ellis, an 18-year-old resident of Akron, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Following a “short pursuit on foot” at the scene, the police detained an 18-year-old man. While attempting to evade the officers, the man discarded a handgun, which was subsequently recovered by the authorities. It remains unclear whether the individual was connected to the fatal shooting incident. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business and has been taken into custody at Summit County Jail.

Detectives believe that an “unknown male produced a handgun and fired shots while inside the house, striking the victims.” Although the police have arrested a man, it is still unclear whether he played a role in the shooting.

The police are currently in the early stages of the shooting investigation, diligently working to determine the person responsible for firing the shots.
