TreeHouse Foods, Inc. has recently announced an expansion of their voluntary recall. The recall now includes a range of frozen toaster waffle, Belgian waffle, and pancake products. This decision was made due to concerns regarding a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes.
The United States Food & Drug Administration states that the recall is focused on products manufactured at one facility that are still within their shelf-life.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that has the potential to cause severe infections, sometimes even leading to fatalities, particularly in vulnerable individuals such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may experience symptoms like fever, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, pregnant women are at a higher risk and may even suffer from miscarriages or stillbirths in severe cases.
The products that have been recalled were shipped to all states, including Florida, and can typically be found in popular grocery stores such as Albertsons, Kroger, Aldi, Publix, Walmart, Target, Dollar General, and others.
You can locate the UPC and lot codes on the back of the impacted products, which are listed on the FDA’s website next to each Best By Date.
Health officials advise people who have bought any of the recalled products on the list to either throw them away or return them to the store where they bought them for a full refund.
